How to Buff Your Nails at Home

Step 1: You will need the following things:

-         An emery board

-         A nail buffer with at least 3 grades

-         Hand and Nail Moisturizer

-         Nail Clippers or Nail Scissors

Step 2: Before you start you must wash your hands thoroughly. You should use a nail brush to get all the grime from under your nails out before starting. A tip, never buff you nails after a shower as your nails will be too soft and you could risk damaging your nail if you do buff it.

Step 3: You not need to cut your nail to the length that you desire. If you are using a nail cutter be sure to cut right across the middle and not the sides. I personally don’t like always use nail clippers and not nail scissors are they are easier to handle and thus reduce the risk of any damage or injury.

Step 4: You need to use the emery board to detail the shape of your nail. Note that emery boards should be able to file quite a fair bit of nail in one stroke. If the emery board is no longer effective in removing sufficient amounts of nail in one stroke then you should get rid of it and purchase another one. You should also avoid metal nail files as they are generally harsher on the nails.

Step 5: A lot of people don’t pay much attention to this but the position in which you choose to file and buff you nails is very important. You should sit on a office chair, upright with your arms rested on the table and your elbow about 2 inches away from the edge of the table.
