Nail Brush
What I mean by nail brushes here are actual bristled brush used in the cleaning of hands especially areas under the nails
where grime and its associated bacteria and viruses can reside. It’s been widely know that the best implement to wash a hand is the other hand,
meaning wash you hands with each other to get the best results, however getting to the grime under the nails is more difficult and often requires
the use of other tool such as a long bristle nail brush. Using nail brushes are particularly important for people dealing in the manicure
industry as hands have to be sterile before being used to service a customer due to the risk of cross contamination between clients served by the
manicurist.

Selecting the nail brush require that you understand that each type of brush with its different bristle strength and length
serves different purposes. As a general guide for manicurist, buy nail brushes which have bristles that are non-absorbant, this is to ensure that
harmful germs don’t take up residency on the bristles. Additionally, the bristles should be soft and highly flexible in order that the bristles
get into all the little nooks and crannies under the nail but still have enough tensile strength that it can brush out any grime.
Also look at how the bristles are binded onto the brush, there are two types of nail brush binds typically used in the
manicure industry, one is where each bristle is fused together with the plastic handle or ones which are simply stapled into the handle. I
personally prefer the binded sort as it is much easier to clean and maintain sanitized. Stapled bristles leave a lot of room between the staplers
which can harbor bacteria and viruses making them hard to clean and sanitize.
Cleaning and sanitizing nail brushes are slightly different to any other manicure tools, the reason is that brushes are
generally much harder to clean and sanitize thus more care should be taken when cleaning them especially if they are used by many people. Firstly
brushes should be pressure cleaned to remove any grime that might be stuck in between the bristles, then they should be dipped completely in
disinfectant solution and left overnight to completely sterilize the brush.
